Will we sacrifice for Karzai?

by Claude Garrod September 10, 2009

According to New York Times reports, in the recent "election" in Afghanistan, President Karzai's regime practiced widespread vote-rigging. For example, "they set up hundreds of fictitious polling sites where no one voted, but where hundreds of thousands of ballots were recorded toward the president's re-election. ... In some provinces the number of pro-Karzai ballots may exceed the number of people who actually voted by a factor of 10."

Members of Karzai's family are known notorious heroin dealers and some of his close political supporters are bloody war criminals. Are we really going to sacrifice another 4,000 or 5,000 young Americans (and 20,000 or 30,000 seriously wounded ones) in order to maintain this regime?
